Bourgogne Chardonnay « Altis »

Terroir

Grown on high vines planted 35 years ago, our Chardonnay Altis thrives on a predominantly marly clay-limestone soil, directly facing south-south-west. This unique terroir is bathed in light and gives the wine its rich and generous character.

Why ‘Altis’? The name ‘Altis’ originates from the Latin word altus, which means ‘high’, a shout-out to our high vine plants. This is not simply a method of planting or growing vines: these high vines embody a thoughtful and sustainable choice for the viticulture of tomorrow.

Perched on the hillsides, these plants benefit from several natural assets: their height and the associated air circulation offer natural protection against certain diseases, and mitigate damage during late frost episodes, thus limiting treatments and interventions while promoting a more respectful approach to our environment.

‘Altis’ is, therefore, a tribute to these high vines, and the careful work involved in creating beautiful full-bodied wines while preserving our terroirs.

Vinification & ageing

Traditional vinification is at the heart of our expertise: gentle pressing in vats, without the addition of SO2 to respect the integrity of the grapes. Part of the cuvée then continues its alcoholic fermentation in oak barrels. Maturation on fine lees for 12 months gives the wine depth and elegance.

Tasting

A gourmet nose reveals aromas of yellow peach, exotic fruits and a subtle touch of vanilla. On the palate, this Chardonnay draws us in with its frank attack, generous volume and beautiful balance. The long and smooth finish unfolds, presenting delicate aromatic notes. A truly pleasing wine – to be enjoyed on all occasions, both with noble fish and creamy dishes!
